Wallace Releases First Campaign Commercial

Jim Wallace, a Fishers businessman, was the first candidate to announce that he's running for Governor of Indiana as a Republican. I really don't know much about him, so this video is probably one of the first impressions I've had of him.

Wallace has been all over Indiana in recent weeks attending county fairs, as you can see in the montage of clips in the video.

I like the video. It serves as a nice introduction, and he has a subtle nod to his Republican primary opponent, Representative Mike Pence, when he refers to Washington D.C. Running against a Congressional representative certainly makes it easier to run against "DC Politics" or something like that.

What do you all think?

  1. Nobody from Fishers could ever successfully claim to be and/or represent the "common folk" of Indiana.

  2. And the same could be said about Daniels, an Ivy League grad who spent his entire adult life inside appointed political positions with a small stint at Eli Lilly, due almost exclusively to his political and family connections.

Hell, southern Indiana just elected a Congressman who was living in Carmel, IN until just before the actual election.

  3. Anonymous- Wallace is a socially moderate alternative to Pence and brings business experience rather than Beltway Insider political experience. Hoosiers are lucky to have him as a choice.

Indy Student- I think your commenting about Republican Todd Young in the 9th. He lived in Bloomington for several years before the election and had considered running there in 2008 before Sodrel decided to run again. If you want to make an accurate criticism of his biography you should ask why he referred to himself as "Orange Co. Deputy Prosecutor"? He never had that title as a full-time, part-time, permanent or temporary employee. He was a private attorney who volunteered for the prosecutor's office when his wife who worked there was on vacation. Why not just campaign as a lawyer?
